About the Role

Our client is moving from individual Copilot use to a shared AI capability — the Brain. The AI Product Lead is the person who decides what we build, in what order, and against which business outcome. They sit between the executive ask and the technical build, and own the use-case selection process from candidate inventory through to deployment.

This is not a delivery PM role. It is a product role with enough technical and architectural depth to challenge engineers on build-vs-buy, to read a model evaluation, and to size what is realistic against FGFS data and Consumer Duty constraints.

Main Responsibilities:

• Own use-case selection. Build and run the process that turns the productivity-lever map (Risk & Credit, Compliance, Operations, Engineering, Marketing) into a prioritised, deliverable backlog.

• Translate outcomes into feasible builds. Convert executive asks into scoped, sized work — clear on what is rented (LLMs), bought (platform components) and built (the FGFS layer).

• Shape the platform with engineering. Co-own the reference architecture with the Senior AI Engineer. Decisions on model gateway, vector store, evaluation harness and monitoring sit jointly.

• Run the evaluation and quality bar. Define what good looks like for each use case — accuracy, latency, cost, regulatory fit — and hold the line on it.

• Land use cases into the value streams. Hand over to Product Leads in Open Loop, Customer Servicing, Business Services and Product Development when capability is ready. Stay accountable for outcome.

• Be the interface to Tymit. Plug into the existing build at Tymit, avoid duplication, agree the joint working pattern.

• Carry the governance lane. Work with Risk & Compliance so every use case clears the register, evaluation harness and Consumer Duty gate before go-live.

Requirements:

• Five-plus years in a product role on AI, ML or data products — ideally including LLM-based products shipped to production.

• Direct experience standing up an AI platform or capability inside an organisation, not just deploying point solutions.

• Worked in a regulated environment — financial services, healthcare or similar. Comfortable with model risk, evidence trails and consumer-outcome regulation.

• Track record of choosing build-vs-buy for AI infrastructure (model gateway, vector store, evaluation, observability) and defending the call.

• Has owned a use-case prioritisation framework end to end — selection, scoring, sequencing, kill decisions.

• Deep technical literacy: can read a model card, an evaluation report and a system architecture diagram, and challenge them.

• Strong grasp of retrieval, ontologies, prompt and agent patterns — enough to direct the engineering team, not just listen to them.

• Commercially literate: sizes business cases, understands unit economics of inference.

• Writes clearly for executives. Frames trade-offs, not options.

• Comfortable as an anchor role — operating without a full team around them for the first months.

Nice to have:

• Consumer credit, lending or payments background.

• Hands-on engineering background earlier in career.

• Has worked alongside a partner engineering team (consultancy or sister company) with clear hand-over criteria.

First six months — what good looks like

• Reference architecture v1 signed off and the first platform components live.

• Use-case selection process running; first two use cases in build, one through governance and into a value stream.

• Clean working pattern with Tymit — leverage agreed, duplication avoided.

• Governance lane operating inside existing approvals, not bolted on.

• Phase 1 core team fully in place and the next phase scoped.

Location: UK - remote with occasional travel to London
